What Not To Do To A Garment Steamer
If you have a garment steamer like the Jiffy Steamer J-2000, there are a few things you never want to do with it. One of the first things is to not overfill the reservoir with water. On the flipside of that is never let your steamer run dry. With the J2000 there is an auto shut-off feature built-in, but this is still a bad idea to let it run dry to that point.
You should never add any kind of additives to the steamer like a perfume, salt or a clothing dye. These kinds of substances can quickly gum up the steamer and damage the unit completely. Another thing to be aware of is to not pour cold water into a hot steamer. The heating element will go haywire and bust.
Finally, be sure to not use an extension cord with this appliance, or use the cord itself to pick up the unit. It can be a fire safety issue and no one wants that type of accident to occur.
