Eco-friendly Building Materials

A great majority of greenhouse gases actually comes from buildings, and not cars, vans, or truck as some might expect. The concept may be met with a little skepticism, particularly those who are new to the idea of buildings being the source of many greenhouse gas emissions. However the construction process, or at least the process that produces many of the building materials that construction makes use of, is an ecologically taxing one. Drywall, which requires gypsum requires a lot of heat during development. Portland cement is responsible for seven or eight percent of total greenhouse gases. This is why efforts have been focused on developing green building materials that are ecologically safe and lessen the demand for traditional building materials. Already, eco-friendly alternatives exist in the market such as EcoRock as a replacement for regular drywall that includes gypsum, as well as bamboo, which is a cheaper alternative to other hardwoods and takes less time to mature.
